DESCRIPTION:LEZARD User: Wednesday\, 8:30am-4:30pm \nThis is the one-day “User” course that certifies individuals in the user of the LEZARD lanyard\, meeting the training requirement to purchase the device. \nLEZARD Trainer: Wednesday to Friday\, 8:30am-4:30pm \nThis course is only available to our Petzl Technical Partners\, or SAR / private teams with pre-approval. Please contact us ahead of time before registering. The first day (Wednesday) is the standard “User” course. Thursday and Friday focus on Train the Trainer material\, along with course delivery and student safety. \nLEZARD Description \nIn a rescue situation where a helicopter is needed to reach the victim’s location. When the rescuer reaches the victim\,considering the fact that the rescuer must stay connected to a safety system\, there is a particular moment when the rescuer is simultaneously connected to the helicopter and to the wall. This presents a major risk in a rescue situation because the helicopter is attached to the cliff in that moment and cannot release itself in an emergency. Petzl invented a system to specifically address this situation: The LEZARD system\, a releasable helivac lanyard with securing of the drop-off/recovery phases. \n \nGoal of the training\nThe training aims to closely support the use of a very specialized system\, developed by Petzl for helicopter rescue: the LEZARD system. Taking this training enables identification of the risks associated with improper use of the equipment\, and provides the opportunity to practice using it properly\, at height. Students will have the opportunity for in-depth exploration of the LEZARD’s operating principles and handling. \nTargeted skills\nWhen this training is over the student will be able to:\n• Identify the risks associated with LEZARD misuse.\n• Put into practice the usage recommendations for the LEZARD\n• Promote best practices in their organization\, in order to help ensure proper use of the LEZARD system. \n

Please visit Peak Rescue’s course calendar to register. \nThe Advanced Rescue Course presented by Peak Rescue will include the following : Tower rescue skills\, reeving highline systems\, advanced use of artificial high directionals\, pick-off rescues from suspension\, contingency anchors\, retrievable rappel systems\, micro-haul systems\, guiding line/off-set lowers\, self and ground belay techniques\, vertical fall arrest\, on-rope back-up devices\, on-rope line transfers and advanced knowledge of equipment. It’s expected that students are confident in the fundamentals of rope rescue and are competent with personal skills allowing them to move on rope. Students are expected to understand basic lowering and belay techniques\, mechanical advantage systems\, anchor building\, litter rigging and attending\, ascending and descending rope. Peak Rescue trains students both inside and outside as well as from fundamental learning environments to real-world scenarios.
