After the successful, first-ever Ski Area Safety Summit in 2023, Petzl is excited to announce the 2024 Ski Area Safety Summit on October 1st through 3rd in Salt Lake City, Utah. This educational event features some of the industry’s top subject matter experts.
The goal of this event is to highlight some work-at-height and rescue best practices for ski patrol and lift operation personnel, and share some insights for improving compliance with ski area safety standards.
When: October 1-3, 2024
Where: Salt Lake City, UT (Petzl Technical Institute and Brighton Resort)
Who: Ski Area Safety Managers, Ski Patrol Directors, Lift Maintenance & Operations
These hands-on workshops will focus on improving safety and efficiency with the demands and hazards of ski area operations, while improving compliance with modern safety standards. Attendees will learn about new techniques and gear, as well as ideas for improving training programs for their teams.
Trainers for this event will be selected from our network of Petzl Technical Partners, Petzl Technical Institute staff, and other industry experts from the US and Canada.

Note: All workshops are two hours long
Day 1 | Tuesday, October 1 – two workshops
Day 2 | Wednesday, October 2 – three workshops (day 2 and day 3 will have the same workshops)
Day 3 | Thursday, October 3 – two workshops (day 2 and day 3 will have the same workshops)

WHAT’S INCLUDED | The registration cost includes event admission and the following meals:
• Tuesday, October 1: Breakfast, lunch, and dinner
• Wednesday, October 2: Breakfast and lunch (dinner not included)
• Thursday, October 3: Breakfast and lunch (dinner not included)
TRANSPORTATION | Transportation will not be provided. Attendees will need to arrange their own transportation to and from Brighton Resort, Petzl Technical Institute, and their lodging accommodations.
LODGING | The cost of lodging is not included in this event and attendees must book their own accommodations. Petzl has arranged special event pricing with two hotels that are within a 10 minute walk of Petzl: Holiday Inn Express (3036 S. Decker Lake Dr, West Valley City, UT 84119 | 801-517-4000) and Staybridge Suites (3038 S. Decker Lake Dr, West Valley City, UT 84119 | 801-746-8400). To receive the discount, reservations must be booked over the phone and mention “Petzl” during the booking process.
WHAT TO BRING | A helmet is mandatory for all participants to bring.
CANCELATION POLICY | If you are unable to attend and you have already purchased a ticket, a full refund will be issued if cancel before September 15 and a partial refund (50%) if you cancel after September 15.
